Professor Michael Abbott, the creator of Hydroinformatics, passed away in December 2019. His work on numerical methods is embedded in a family of hydraulic modelling systems that were named “MIKE”, after him. 

Mike was an inspiring and charismatics person, a true visionary, deep thinker, and philosopher whose persona and intellectual leadership influenced many people around the World. 

Thank you for the priceless contribution and creation of the field Hydroinformatics. You will always be in our minds and hearts. Hydroinformatics Institute is proud to bear the name of the field you created.
