JTC awarded H2i and RoyalHaskoningDHV for a Percolation Study at Jurong Island Reclamation in Singapore. The objective of the study is twofold; (i) reduce storm water runoff to mitigate future flooding and (ii) increase infiltration of rainwater into the groundwater lens. If sufficient water can be infiltrated, then the underground freshwater storage could be used by the industrial users in the future.
The initial Proof of Concept stage of the project will explore innovative technologies to reduce flood risk and increase infiltration in the groundwater lens of the reclamation. This is followed by a Proof-of-Value stage where the recommended infiltration technology will be designed in more detail and field tests will be proposed to verify the design.
